We process 200 tonnes of wood each week at our Material Recovery Facility
At SL Recycling we champion a zero-waste-to-landfill goal and strive to reduce the amount of wood being sent to landfill. We recycle waste wood to produce a range of products including horse and poultry bedding, equestrian and play area surfaces, panel board feedstock, and biomass fuel.
How We Recycle Wood
At our specialised Material Recovery Facility, we accept, collect and process all grades of wood for recycling.
According to the wood grade we then accordingly process, recycle and transport the waste wood. At SL Recycling we aim to divert as much waste as possible from landfill, including wood. We accept grade A, B, C, and D wood.
Grade A: ‘Clean’ recycled wood – material produced from pallets and secondary manufacture. Suitable for producing animal bedding and mulches.
Grade B: Industrial feedstock grade – includes grade A material, plus construction and demolition waste. Suitable for panel board.
Grade C: Fuel grade – made from grade A and B material plus that from municipal collections and civic amenity sites. Used for biomass fuel.
Grade D: Hazardous waste – all grades of wood including treated material such as fencing and trackwork. Requires disposal at special facilities.
